This is the red grape variety of central Italy and in Matelica, in the mid-hills, it has a strong typical expression where the typical acidic aggressiveness of Sangiovese is counterbalanced by good alcohol content and body. It is an all-meal wine that is marketed the year after the harvest; this makes it an immediate yet not simple wine.
