A red grape variety from central Italy and Matelica, in the mid hills. It has a strong, typical style where the acidic aggressiveness typical of Sangiovese is counterbalanced by a good alcohol content and consistency.. It is a meal wine that is placed on the market the year after it has been harvested; this makes it an instant wine but at the same time not an easy one..
